Ok, I'm a bit more awake now! Have been reading the reviews, overall it's looking like a strange League - teams with very topsy-turvy form (except Donegal & Kerry) Seems like Cork didnt really "turn up" on the night, so it wasnt any contest Tyrone look like they havent settled down at all yet, but talk of crisis is nonsense, it will just be more motivation for them. No doubt they are not unbeatable, but I think they will be more dangerous as underdogs. Their returning players will take time to settle back in & find form only if the hunger is there rashers, the armagh players didnt seem too interested either yesterday. as things stand at the moment only donegal from ulster will be in div. one next year. the last three sundays in the league might tell us a lot. A team as young and talented as Tyrone, who had such a quiet year in 2006, will have the hunger, dont worry! I always thought it would take time for them to get a balance with players coming back in, and obviously without the wee man It's looking like nailed on for Kerry or Mayo for the second play-off spot again, cant see both those teams losing more than one game, or even one game, unless the Dubs produce a powerful run-in

Sully, I'm sure Cork have the same ambitions as Kerry, Tyrone or Dublin. Yes the league seems to be a disaster this year if you take the Tyrone game out of it. I think at the time I did say that Tyrone weren't as good as you'd expect. But they made a lot of progess last year and you would hope they could build on that. If it was Kerry had lost to Dublin by that much, ye would have said "ah shur tis only the league". Come the nice summer days we'll see just how things are coming along. There.... beating ye twice in the one year....

Mickmack, after Saturday I think you might be being generous with us needing just 4/5 scoring forwards.

I love the way people like to define things in simplistic terms, like "need 4 or 5 scoring forwards" Perhaps that ignores the small issue of forwards not getting good ball, or just not getting enough ball. Against Tyrone they did, against Dublin they didnt. Yes I know a forward has to be able to win ball, but there's too many other factors to make it that simple. Cork's deficiency for me lies more in the area of winning & getting good ball forward

Rashers, for once I agree with you. From what I can gather from listening to the game and the reports I've got it's not jut the forwards were the problem. Although I would imagine as our backs and mid-field played consistantly good last year that it was just an off game for them. Hopefully we'll be back on track the next day. By all accounts Cussen help towards the end. (he's your man that they said was a bit like Donaghy last year but didn't really get a chance with the team)

I saw him described as "the latest & biggest of the attempted Donaghy clones" I dont think it's a good idea to insist on picking a target man per se, just pick the best balanced 6 forwards. This season every team will have prepared to deal with the big lads, only a very talented big player will thrive. I'm glad Dublin are not trying it (though Johnny Magee still lurks around out there somewhere )

Sorry Rashers, I wasn't comparing the two. I just was refreshing the memory of the Kerry people (I probably didn't need to cos they probably know more about the Cork players then I do) but he was brought into the panel last year and the Kerry spy reported it on the old forum about him. He's tall and plays basketball, that's how he's like Donaghy.

In the second half of the league game v tyrone, dublin could have done with the donaghy type option. i am a bit fan of the big full forward option. Not the only option but one option......

Miller is gone back into the undergrowth in Ballyboden. If we want a target we've got Madser Vaughan, and if we're really stuck, there's the aforementioned Monster Magee, either way they are both proper Gaelic Footballers, which Miller really isnt Donaghy isnt just a big sexy hunk of a man, he's very mobile & skillful. In the absence of such a player, we Dubs will be relying on pace and movement, and scutty Jackeen savvy, with the likes of Henno & Griff slipping under the Star's legs and out with the ball before he knows what's going on. And Brennan will stand up to him, like Stringer does. If they get half the chance
