Tyrone seemed a bit off form. Although Corks defence were all outstanding, (even yer good friend Noelie) Hard to believe they managed to play so well without Nicolas Murphy. They fought as if their lives depended on it. I hope I'll be seeing plenty more of this for the rest of the year. Did all the sh^te in the paper effect Tyrone? Or was it just a really good performance by Cork? Rashers, can I put this down to Cork actually stepping up to the plate against one of the big 4??

Yes maybe, the only question is over Tyrone - did all the CB shenanigans effect them? I think also they were complacent. Cork had all to play for, so many punters fan cied them last night. Having said all that, Cork were superb, sublime stuff, and to beat the great Red Hands by 8 shows what Cork may be capable of, having hinted at it last year Dubs absolutely woeful. I'll say more about it later, but I'm thoroughly depressed right now. Not good enough, no spirit, clueless, and players not looking fit. League nearly over for us already, only four wins and a sudden turn around in............every aspect will indicate any kind of ambitions for this year. Donegal didnt have to be very good, but they had the stomach for the fight when it was needed. Sad days for Dub football, a potentially extended bleak future awaits

an interesting sunday in the league.
tyrone, armagh, dublin all beaten,3 of the considered big 4.
dublin didnt score till the 30 minute, going long time spans without scoring seems to be a huge problem for them.

The conditions were dreadful, but it still doesnt excuse such a bad return, especially from alot of possession.

Thought in the 1st half that Cork were the same as 2 weeks ago against kerry. Still looking toothless in attack. Donnacha o' Connor is just as likely to pop up in the full back line as anywhere else, and people thought Declan O' Sullivan was bad. Mulligan and Sean Cavanagh were very poor. Cork were very good in midfield, but I think their defense is particurlarly suited to marking Tyrone. The half back line was very good. Just before the Mulligan sending off, Cork started to grow in confidence and were ripping the Tyrone defense apart when running at them. I do think after watching the match last night that when the going is good, the Cork forwards can be very very cood. Same as the Munster final replay, But when they struggle the definitly lack ledership up front

That's an interesting assessment Ciarrai33. I suppose you have a point about the forwards, but I don't think I'd like it to be like a few years ago with Corkery. Cork seem to be working as a unit rather then a few fantastic players carrying the team. In the replay last night I noticed that plenty of times you'd see the forwards tracking back to defend. While this obviously causes problems cos of the lack of numbers up front if a break should come; but it's still good to see such effort being put it by everyone. What do ye make of Shields? Thought he did really well at full back.

I thought Cork were absolutely superb saturday night. I could not believe the transformation in a couple of weeks. The half back line of O'leary, Spillane and Lynch were outstanding and their support play and running off the ball was great. They played a much more direct brand of football, giving direct ball in although they are still short the 1-2 forwards.

McMahon makes a lot of difference. He mightn't score too many but he works hard and his passing is fairly accurate. Hopefully it's not a one off performance.

If it is me, shur we can only play well in Munster when we manage to raise our game. And if it is ye, we're good to have an old training session with in yer preparation for yet another all Ireland.

Cork played well and were good to watch. They are a jekyl and hyde kind of team. It reminded me of the Munster final replay at the end nearly every attempt seem to be going over. A big change in 2 weeks Tyrone looked rudderless.

if dooher and mcguigan dont reach top form and performance this summer tyrone will struggle.
how many of those big games would tyrone have won without canavan?think about it.

I am not too afraid of Tyrone i have to say. Canavan is gone. Muggsy is not a forty yards man and Conor Gormley looks to have slowed down. I do think Cavanagh is brilliant but as Kerrygold just said the big questionmark is whether Dooher and McGuigan reach top form. Both have missed a huge amount of football and Dooher is no spring chicken. Looking forward to seeing them in Killarney in a few weeks.
What is the background to McGuigan feeling aggrieved at the way he is being looked after??
