It had nothing to do with any trip to Dublin mentioned above by Topcat and was more along the lines of him not wanting to lose out on every summer of his 20's to football. It's a tough decision to make. Were talking about different players here.....

I hope Pat can assert control soon. This emerging situation has Disaster spelt all over it. There is a title there for the winning from what I saw on TG4 today. Common sence needs to prevail. Its a long year. We will need everyone on board. Enough said.

As Micheal says on the radio: 'Winter talk is soon forgotten come the first ball of the championship'

Its a long year. We will need everyone on board. Enough said. Is there a lack of perspective here? What disaster? Some guys retired which was going to happen anyway. Some guys have left because they have spent a few years on the bench and don't want to keep doing it. There so much commitment needed to be on the Kerry panel that it would be hard to keep going if you think you are not going to be on the team. However thats always going to be the case regardless of who is boss. You have to leave someone out. Besides didn't we have enough rumours of trouble last year and a lot of that was a bottle of smoke afterwards.

Meanwhile back at the ranch........
Assuming everyone is fit I would pick this team for the championship right now (I am allowing for mind changing later on!)
Murphy Marc Tom Reidy Tomas Aidan Griffin Dara Scanlon Galvin Brosnan Sean Sullivan Gooch Donaghy MFR
Back up: backs Mossy Young Bohane Midfield Quirke/Sheehan Griffin and Donaghy can also go there Up Front Declan Darren Sheehan Quill
Bit light on Free takers I accept but thats a scoring foward line. Declan may yet edge out Brosnan who could go to wing also

Somehow I think we'll see Bryan Sheehan there Watch, you never go into a championship match without a recognised freetaker.

I'll be disapointed if both brosnan and declan dont play themselves onto the team on merit.
I was talking to a kilcumann man,a neighbour from across the fields of mike mac,who told me he would be pretty surprised if mike played with kerry this year.I asked him would he put his house on that,he said no but that he would put the car on it. Interestingly he didnt feel it was a work issue that was the reason for not playing.

Normally I would agree but we didn't have a "recognised free taker" against Mayo Cork or Armagh last year if I am not mistaken. The question is if Sheehan is in then 1) Where and 2) who is out?

Would be surprised to see Mike McCarthy back too.
We could badly do with him but I can't see it happening.

sheehan, brosnan, declan, sean sul, gooch, donaghy, mfr, galvin, quill, darren cant be divided into 6 places, that why i feel brosnan might end up midfield.
if kerry getting six forward firing on all cylinders they might consider not carring a free taker, especially if mfr is going well.
i think sheehan if injury free will be pushing hard for a place though.

You got there before me watch.Valid point because i dont think there is a place for Sheehan unfortunately.Granted he is probaly the best free taker in ireland but doesnt give us enough from open play at the moment in comparison with the forwards he is in competition with. I would rate Gooch, star, sean sullivan, declan,Eoin,Mike frank,Galvin, quill and possibly darren sullivan ahead of him from open play.9 forwards ahead of him in my opinion.
