if you have six forwards flying, gooch and mfr will kick more frees than they will miss.

Exactly, you cant underestimate the importance of a quality free taker but as KG has said i wouldnt have too much worries about Gooch and mfr takin our frees.

Theres always Murphy Marc Tom Reidy Tomas Aidan Griffin Scanlon Dara Brosnan Galvin Declan Sean Sullivan Gooch Star
Brosnan in a sweeper role ranging from in front of half back line to in front of the full forward line?

you would rate reidy ahead of young watchdahop?
i'm a bit of a traditionalist,i like to have 3 attacking fullforward line players in front of the goal.
if all three were playing out of their skins,my fullforward line would be declan, donaghy, colm.
you'd have potential of 2-10 from that line in a game, provided declan stayed inside of course.

I think Young is a very good player with a lot of potential and had been doing well in the league. The injury might have set him back and Reidy finished the league well. Young could easily come back into the reckoning as the year goes on.

You really seem to rate Scanlon, rearranging the team for him, easy option is put eoin midfield here if your playin Tommy g wing back.I agree that Scanlon is a good player but i dont feel the need to be playing players in unaccustomed roles in order to facilitate him, I dont think there is any need for us to be playing a player in a sweeper role like that,we will need two inside forwards to feed off Donaghy,Two man full forward line works well for teams with forwards who can move about and make space for one another, but star is going to be kept in front of goal wit 2 players feedin off his breaks and lay offs.

This half forward will be very interesting for sure. The full forward is set with gooch star and MFR but the half is loaded with the only player I think certain to start Galvin. Sean Declan Darren Eoin Scanlon and Quill all looking to make it.

In response to Kerryeye
I am not guarenteeing a place for Scanlon it might be Quirke or Sheehan at the time. I would put Griffin there if we had more half backs. But I think you would have to have a full time partner for Dara and then you could have another fellow sweeping and moving between the lines and Brosnan is the ideal man for that role.
Im not convinced on Brosnan as a full time midfielder (then again he won an All Ireland there!)
The other thing is theres not too many fellows putting up teams here: How easy it will be to criticise the selectors later on in the year if things don't go well!!
This years Kerry team isn't straight forward to pick for a number of reasons. No matter what forward line you pick there will be fellows on the line that people say should be on.

Plenty forwards all right. Question does anyone know if Paul G has defensive ability? I am thinking about a situation where either Tomas or Aidan are injured (God Forbid). To my mind we are short cover in these positions.

Galvin played wing back for his own club. He has speed brawn he do well there. But you still have young and bohan. 6 new players called up this week. Anyone know who they are.? I know two of them one is a forward and one a midfielder.

Question does anyone know if Paul G has defensive ability? Does Paul Galvin have defensive ability? I smiled to myself when I read that. Paul Glvin cut his teeth in the killing fields of North Kerry hurling where defensive ability (or self defense) in your first instinct. The killing fields of Cambodia were a piece of cake my comparison. Having survived that, taking on the might of Armagh and Tyrone wouldnt be a problem.

He's played there before and i think he'd be a great option there to be honest,he would be an outstanding option as a tough tacklin, attackin wing back. How about this so:
Murphy marc,tom,reidy tomas,aidan,Galvin Dara,tommy Sean,declan,eoin gooch,star,mfr.
The way Galvin has played for us over the last few years he has spent as much time in his own half back line as he has the others.I think its a good idea and allows us to play ou best team. The next thing if this was ever to happen(which it probaly wont) is would Eoin or declan be comfortable on the wing.

I would have put Galvin, Brosnan and Sheehan in yer half-forward line... but I won't claim to know a lot about Kerry football!

paul is too valuable as a grafter on the half forward line gobbling up breaking ball all day for breakfast to relocate him.
