Have to agree with a lot of the posts on sat eve game. and def tyrone were up to some old tricks again.
i noticed anyway, that when things were going there way in the 1st half there was no "injuries" or time wasting.
This tatic also was a major turning point in 05.
The gaa need to look at taking a leaf from soccers book and remove the injured player from the pitch quickly!
Some of their delaying tatics were ridiculous.
Its been discussed here about Sheehan. Very stylish footballer but no value really in general play on Sat showing. In my opinion nowhere near the likes of Galvin, Sean Sull, Dec Sull, Dar Sull, Bros or even Quill. He adds nothing to general play.
Very sirprised to see Seamus Scanlon getting a bit of a slating. thought him being moved to Midfield helped turn the game for us. He has loads of pace and made a huge contribution around the middle and has a good pysical aspect to his game now as from when he first came on the scene.

I agree fully mickmack if its war of attrition they want then they will get more of it than they bargained for. Ask Mr Mellon Where did Mugsy go to in the second half I kinda thought that Brendan Guiney should have got a run the last night but Pat knows best Iam sure.Interesting days ahead. Bring it on I say. I have complete confidence in our lads mentioned and throw in T Walsh. Young Moran,K Young and Darren.See who's crying then !! Was at the game last evening sitting beside a Tyrone supporter. I can tell you the team didn't pick it off the road.( nuff said.)

I will repeat myself about Galvin. It is fine being a tough man and hitting hard as he is well capable of doing, and God knows those cynical injury feigning Tyrone players deserve to be hit hard, but his antics last Saturday night annoyed me.
I dont usually find myself agreeing with Dermot on anything except on this occassion.
He behaved like a gouger. Strong words I know, but i watched him and he spent almost all his time on the pitch punching, kicking, tripping and jersey pulling....mostly off the ball. He had just kicked out at the Tyrone man before he was sent off (was it Mc Cullough).
I had the misfortune of sitting a few seats away from a gobsh**e from Tyrone who was there with his young child. He spent the whole game shouting in the ear of the a lady beside him with a small child, complaining about every decision and tackle. Every handpass was a throw in his opinion. Funny...he didnt like it when it was pointed out to him that Tyrone players pretend to be injured and stay on the ground for ages...He got very aggressive in fact...fine example to his child....true class

there was negitive stuff directed at galvin also from the first minute he came on the pitch.
kerry will have to be very focused, driven, single minded,in the grove and completely self deciplined and controlled if they meet tyrone in the championship and fully resist and not take the bait directed at them if they are to prevail.

I think both teams looked leaderless last saturday night. Tyrone were missing canavan, mcguigan, cavanagh, hughes who were hugely influential in their wins and Muggsy and Dooher looked way of the pace. Kerry were missing Moynihan, mccarthy, gooch, brosnan, declan and looked out of sorts as well. I actually think this could be a funny year in football. The big 3 might well have slipped a bit with retirements and rebuilding. It could be a year for Donegal, Mayo or the Dubs to sneak an All Ireland.

If Kerry meet tyrone in 2007 it will be a different situation to 2005 and 2003 when they recoiled from the hard stuff. The OSheas, galvin, O Mahoney, Tom Sull wont be found wanting if it becomes a war of attrition....... jaysus i am lookin foward to it already Boys, where do youse get the idea that the Kerry of 2003 & especially 2005 recoiled from the hard stuff ? Thats just not true - Are you seriously saying that Galvin, Tom & Dara O'Shea, O'Mahony etc.. were limp wristed nice wee boys in 2005 and now they're real men .............. Come off it - They're exactly the same ! I remember hearing exactly the same things before the 2005 final - We're ready for them now, we've beefed up etc... Kerry have always been one of the most physical teams around and this year ain't any different. Sorry Mickmack, but I couldn't let ye away with that one now could I ?

Agreed Seamus, Its far too early to call to see how this one will play out but you can rest assured that there will have to be a lot more discipline when it comes to the championship - Its one thing getting sent off in the league and another getting sent off in the championship ! Tyrone are missing: Canavan who can't be replaced and this is my biggest concern - He was more influential to us than Moynihan was to you. We're also missing mcguigan, who is possibly our second most influential player - Still don't know if he'll be back for the championship or not but it doesn't bode well at the minute. Those two alone probably contributed *30% of everything good that we did ! We were also missing cavanagh, hughes, Enda McGinley, Steven O'Neill, Jordan, Cavlan. So you can't really take too much notice of what happened in the league so far. Kerry are obviously missing some key players too. Moynihan and mccarthy gone does leave a hole but I really think you guys have a well formed defense even without them - Whereas our "gone" players were pivitol in the forward line and scoring wins games. You still have you're scorers to come back - i.e. - gooch, brosnan & declan. Again, you wil be a totally different animal come championship time. My biggest concern for us has always been "can we perform and step it up when needed without wee peter" --- When that extra wee bit of " ?" is needed, have we anyone who can see it and do it.

i think tryone will strugle in the very tight games without the wee little hoor(tongue in cheek of course),also its hard to see mcguigan reaching the fine point of cutting edge form this summer.
if kerry are individually and collectively self disiplined and they meet tyrone i would be very disapointed to lose to them again.
re '03 dermot,i think kerry wernt at the the races that day,'05 was a totally diferent kettle of fish, tyrones power play beat kerry that day and the magical peter canavan.it was one of the all time great all-ireland finals, there wasnt much in it at the end of the day and i feel kerry were not quite at the cutiing edge that day either,we had no attack worth talking about and seamus wasnt up to speed.
i eagerly await kerry v tyrone this summer mark 3.

A lot of good stuff being written here.
I think Dermot is right whe he says Kerry are one of the most physical teams around. McGeeney has been saying similar stuff for the past five years.
Its just when you attach skill to it as we normally do, the physical aspect gets overlooked. It always bugged me that certain people had this perception of Kerry football as nice and skillful but unable to mix it when it the rough and tumble.
Whether we like it or not we have always had some of the most cynical/toughest players in the game. Galvin in particular is bad as is DOS at times. Both are pretty adept at the third man tackle especially.
This does not mean they cannot play good football which they clearly can.
As was said earlier the 2005 final was a great game of football with some of the skills by both teams that day exceptional. What let us down was the lack of support play in the forwards for the Gooch. In 2003 we were not prepared and were never competitive.

Since Peter Canavan retired Tyrone have only the mckenna cup to show for their efforts.
Clare won nothing after "The sparrow" retired. I agree with dermot......... great forwards cant be manufactured............backs can be manufactured. Imagine us if Gooch and Donaghy retired

In 2006 against armagh....kerry met fire with fire with satistactory results
