I heard allright that the game could be on Sunday. It will really only affect supporters as i doubt if any of the u21s will be asked to play twice in 2 days. Still,it would be no harm to have a bit of back up on the bench.

Errah lads I dunno bout this league campaign to be honest. I dunno If it will be worth a sh**e to be honest. We're missing the crokes players. More than half our half forward line is sunning itself in australia (not giving out about it). Our 2 time all star at full back will prob not play in the league. In fairness it will only be useful for blooding a couple of backs that may have a chance of coming on as subs this years championship.
Pat O Shea is conservative in his style and I cant see him taking massive gambles. I expect to see our 6 most experienced backs back in harness for the championship in whatever configuration.
It will end up with the two o se's, o mahony, o sullivan, fitzmaurice and prob mike mac knoking around back there. Maybe with one new face if mike mac doesnt come back.
Look at the forwards. We're down to the bear bones of the squad and still Mike quirke, paul o connor and them arent getting a game in the league. Even quill is seen as dispencible in a team shorn most of its forwards.
Think of it this way. Who in that forward line apart from kieran donaghy and to a lesser extent mike frank will hold their place when Colm Cooper, Paul Galvin, Sean O' Sullivan and Declan O' Sullivan and Eoin brosnan come back for the championship? Throw in darren to come back from injury and basically most of the payers are playing for a place on the bench. Only the newcomers in the backline have a realisitc possibility of making any mark on the championship this year

i wouldnt write mfr russell off just like that,
qualifing for the league semi's in these circumstances would make all the more worthwhile.
i wouldnt write the league of just like that either.

Well, that's enough about Limerick, what do yis think of the possible options for the Kerry team for this game?

Quill would want to show something against Limerick if he wants to make the team come summer. He was good against Cork but not good against a poor Fermanagh side. If he wants to get a corner position for the championship these are the games he needs to be showing. It was at this time of the year that Aidan O'Mahony and Paul Galvin won places in 2004.
There was a lot of people calling for him to come in after the Cork replay last year now he is getting his chance so its up to him to take it....

i cant see him making it for the summer ahead of what we had last summer to be honest, especially when you look at the options available for the 6 forward positions.

Lads give Quill a chance , he's been out of county football for a year. He's been man of the match in one game since he came back and it's only early March. I wouldn't mind seing him play all our league games and then be in a better position to judge him.
I'm delighted to see Mike Frank getting stuck in again this year. His experience is priceless and I would never write him off - remember his fine contributions in games late last year, particularly against Armagh.
Any news on D Sullivan?

would expect D. O' Sullivan to be back in training in the next wk or 2...could make the semi final of the u21 championship if they beat Clare.

Probably fairly close, I'd say, watchdahop. I heard that Bryan Sheehan is out with a cruciate ligament. We're getting fairly dry on forwards!

Cruciate? Thats an awful injury. I know he went off injured for Cork IT in the Sigerson. If its cruciate then he wont be seen untill next years championship. Thats bad news if its true.

From Hogan Stand
Sheehan blow for Kingdom 06 March 2007
Kerry’s attacking options for Sunday’s NFL clash with Limerick at Tralee have been further reduced after team captain Bryan Sheehan suffered a suspected cruciate ligament injury while one Sigerson Cup duty with Cork IT.
Sheehan was taken off during Cork IT’s Sigerson Cup semi-final defeat to Queen’s last Friday and is due to have a scan on the injury on Tuesday, March 6. He is definitely ruled out of the Limerick game and there are fears that he could be sidelined for up to six months.
The injury is bad news for Kerry manager Pat O’Shea, who is currently without most of his first choice forwards. Dr Croke’s pair Colm Cooper and Eoin Brosnan won’t be available until after the All-Ireland club final on St. Patrick’s Day, Kieran Donaghy is suspended, Darren O’Sullivan is recovering from a broken bone in his hand, while Paul Galvin and Declan O’Sullivan are both in Australia and won’t return home until later this month.

Sheehan injury not serious Kerry’s Bryan Sheehan 07 March 2007
Kerry football fans are breathing a sigh of relief after a scan showed that team captain Bryan Sheehan’s injured knee is not as serious as first feared.
There were fears that Sheehan had suffered a cruciate ligament injury after he was forced to hobble off during Cork IT’s Sigerson Cup semi-final defeat to Queen’s last weekend. However, a scan revealed that the St. Mary’s man had suffered a slight tear of the medial ligament, and he could yet feature against Limerick in Sunday’s NFL Division 1A clash at Tralee.
“It’s just a great relief,” Sheehan said.
“When you pick up an injury and you are in a lot of pain, the first thing that goes through your head is that it is very serious. But I had a scan today (Tuesday) and thankfully it gave me the all-clear.”
It’s good news for Kerry manager Pat O’Shea who is missing up to 10 of his squad for Sunday’s game, including regular forwards Sean O’Sullivan (quad muscle), Darren O’Sullivan (broken hand), Paul Galvin and Declan O’Sullivan (both in Australia) as well as the Dr Crokes pair Colm Cooper and Eoin Brosnan.
