Eugene Magee made the point in todays indo that you must distinguish between exciting football ( which yesterdays game was) and quality football which yesterdays game wasnt.........

did any of ye hang around for the donegal celebration after the cup was presented,it was unreal, they put the cup into the crowd all along the cusack side, there was one fello on another players shoulders being carried around the place to the song we are the champions, they all formed a circle and linked up,hands around shoulders/necks to the donegal song that was played and almost broke into irish dancing.I'd say there was a seious session brewing.
we wont be long finding out v armagh if they over celebrated.

Donegal overdo the celebrations?? I cant see that happening...!!!!!! Jack O'Connor made the point after the Mayo - Kerry game in the league last year that there was no way they could keep up that intensity right through to September and he was proved right.

Donegal overdid the celebrations when they drew with Dublin in the All Ireland quarter final in 2002!! Needless to say, I doubt there was a drop touched when they hit Letterkenny on Sunday night.

On that, if Donegal can maintain this level of performance and physicality into the Ulster championship, I can honestly see them making a go of it this summer. This team has, by and large, been around since 2001, and have had many close calls in that time. They should have beaten Armagh in 2003 in the semi final, should have beaten them in 2002 in the Ulster final and have been there or thereabouts for the past few years.
If, if, the dice rolls anyway kindly for them as it needs to for any championship winning team, I feel they have the players and the game to go far. There is one man on that team that I feel is built for the game they play, and loves Croke Park. Brian Roper. He will rattle any team this summer.
A bold prediction on this slow April morning.

They will beat teams this summer, going all the way is another thing, they will get nothing soft from big joes men in 5 weeks time,it might be better to reserve judgement till that games is played.
The donegal game in the league was the only game i saw dara struggle a wee bit in the air during the league.

How are Armagh shaping up BigMac? What is the likely team for the summer?

it will be interesting to see how fierce that armagh animal will become again, retirements and injuries are bound to take their toll, parden the pun,on armagh. It looks like one last collective trip to the well for a lot of the personel concerned. Its hard not to think that armagh might have reached the summit of hill and are decending down the other side.
An unconvincing win by donegal might tell us much about both teams,an interesting game on the horizon.

its allready been well touted that this will be the last hoorah for some of the lads but the injuries are starting to mount, the loss of the legend is a huge blow and its lookin doubtful that clarke will make it out this year as well, add in paul mcgranes mum just having had a stroke and u can see that teams willl be thinking that we might be there for the taking but joe wont want to go quiet and the lads wont lie down so it should be intresting

Ya i believe jacks book is called "the secrets of the kingdom",you'd wonder why he is writing a book so soon especially with that group of kerry players being still competive.i hope its not along the lines of the article that was in the times late last year,i've a bad feeling about it,you'd have more respect for him if he had held off for a while. If he wants to be that vocal maybe he should be pratroling the sideline and doing his talking in the kerry dressing room and not talking to journos. They again maybe it will be a damp squib.

Kerrygold, I would agree with you there about the book. Although I presume some kind soul will get it for me for Christmas. Did you read the article he'd in the Irish times? Think it was the 18th April. He was on about the hand passing in the game.
Sorry lads, I know this is about Donegal and Mayo. Thoughts on both teams, maybe they should call Jack in to give a talk!
