Right now podge Dan doona will go where ever he will get CASH here or at home. Different lad to when he left home two years ago. And you are right about the leitrim and donegal teams of the 80's but it had changed for the betterment of the game here. But they have a price tag on the game again here they we can not compete with cash wise. Leitrim have not one leitrim man on the panel. But none of the clubs are going to follow suit we have agreed to that between ourselfs. As for Paddy kelly. I think you can see I am totally against a player transfering to another club unless it was work related in another county etc. But do we know why he transfered? Was there personal reasons? did he fall out with them?? Would have to have the facts before I would put him down.

Most players remain loyal to their club irrespective of the level which that club plays at. Sorry to see a minority choose to turn their back thus letting themselves and their families down.
Poaching clubs are the other side of the coin and we know KOR are masters at this kinda thing. Under what criteria can a player transfer? Is it as simple as filling in a form?

As far as I was aware your original club could object to the transfer and then it would go to some sort of panel for a decision

Does anyone know on what basis Doyle has requested a transfer? Is it true that there is some sort of loophole that if he plays in US he can transfer to another club on his return?

Would be interesting to know about that loophole, if true. Might stop some clubs releasing players registration for the US

He requested a transfer on the basis that he didnt fancy playing in division 5 i presume!!Never heard about that loophole, doubt if something like that would be allowed happen..but you'd never know wit the GAA.

The county board have to be careful as it could lead to mass exodus from smaller clubs. Kerry has always worked on the tradition that is does not matter what division you play in as long as you produce the goods in county championship and at county level. Flaherty, breen, fitzmaurice, sean sullivan, sean mc + eamonn walsh (knocknagoshal), the spillanes all spring to mind. Whats next: Darren Sullivan joins crokes Reidy for Stacks Young for laune rangers If young fella's think they have to play with big clubs then the gaa will die.
Other counties work on the basis that you have to play for a senior club. We are different and by the way it works!
