I dont think its good enough at all,if every good player did this it would see the end of the small club.ive no respect for a fella who leaves there own club, unless they are forced to move away or somethin, but the 2 lads here have no excuse like that. This gives small clubs little chance of ever progressin if their best players are goin to be robbed by big clubs with enough players to fill 3 or 4 senior teams while the small club could be strugling along wit 17 or 18 players.

A tribunal of enquiry should be set up to look into the transfer of Larry Tompkins from New york and Kildare to Casthehaven and Cork.
I dont think he had ever set foot in Castlehaven before joining them.
Twas hardly for the "love of place" which is what motivates most GAA players.

Mickmack, I said names for hurling! I could have given you a few questionable ones in football myself! I won't name them either mind you, cos like most things, tis hard to prove!

kildare brought larry home from america to play for kildare v meath in '85 but refused to pay his return flight back to the states where he was working as a carpenter,he returned himself to america paying his own ticket but didnt return to play for kildare in '86. in '87 he joined castlehaven and cork.
i dont think you could call that greed.

Long time ago Kerrygold. I think they were on about hurling transfers in Cork anyway. Off the top of my head I can't think of any that's all. I know certain clubs are mentioned in Cork, but it's always football. But if a player is a long way from home and wants to play senior football, you can hardly say it's all about greed.

Distance is hardly a motivating factor for Paddy Kelly and after all the praise he was getting on the old forum about sticking with his small club and being with a division 5 team not affecting your chances of inter-county selection. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
