tyrone looked poor, they brought their league form into the championship,i wouldnt be convienced that injuries are their sole problem, fermanagh were very inept up front.
galway were far more up for it than mayo, you'd have to question mayo after this defeat coming so soon after the league and all-ireland final defeats.
anyone fancy meath to ambush the dubs, its a possibility, should be a massive full house day in croker.
that great man micko,is working the magic again, whats your verdict stacks, nearly pulled if off to day,not bad for a manager concidered by some to be out dated and not good enough to manage kerry.
a big cork win v limerick,it should be a competive munster final again, that can ony be a good thing.
hard to see paidi being getting too excited about the tommy murphy cup now.
will down now go on the roll that some have hinted at?time will tell.
Does anyone know where the waterford kerry game will be played this year?

We got through it, I'm happy enough. Tommy McGuigan was pretty impressive, rose to the challenge well.

Lads, it was nice to see sending up one of yer best players to spy on us today... Does that mean ye're taking us seriously?? Limerick were poor enough. Masters, as you'd guess from the result was in fine form. Still room of improvement from Cork, but it was only the first day out so no need for panic just yet.

i was impressed enough by tyrone....... a few new forwards not afraid to take their scores............ hughes and cavlan showed leadership when needed. If tyrone get all their players back they will be some outfit still
Mayo looked a sad tired team. Galway are better footballers and will be in the last 8 now and are schedule to mdeet the ulster champs in the semi final....... could galway make the final?
Dublin v Meath........ how good is Leinster....... one all ireland in 10 years. Good to see Meath coming again ..... Kerry owe them big time for 2nd September 2001. I dont know what to expect from Dublin. In the league they lacked leaders all over the placed.
Wicklow v Louth........ not that surprised. Club football in wicklow is very good. Micko is working his magic again.

Agree with Kerrygold re today's games. I was very disappointed with Mayo - they were poor and won't play this badly again. Having said that they looked a spent side today lacking energy, physicality and bereft of ideas or leadership. I may have to revise my opinion of them as potential AI winners. However I would still back them to progress through the back door route.
It's hard to judge Galway based on Mayo's poor performance but I would never write them off. They looked very motivated today and also had the toughness that Mayo lacked. It's hard to believe that Mayo are still way behind in the physicality stakes - this despite contesting 2 AI's in recent years. In my opinion this is an area that let's them down the whole time.
Tyrone were also very poor and in my opinion were lucky to win this one. Harte took McMenamin off before he was sent off. Fermanagh ad plenty possession and ran Tyrone ragged at times but could not score. I thought ref started giving Tyrone easy frees when they looked in trouble and they scored from one of these to win by the minimum. As comentators pointed out the free was taken 5 or 6 metres nearer to the goal than it should have been and just snuck over the bar. Shame on the linesmen and referee.
Re Cork game - I thoght Limerick would give them a better game. However Cork mean business this year and would be one of my 'darkhorses' to go all the way.

Impressive for Cork to win so well, Limerick could have made it tough, then again, it was in the Pairc Clare - shame we wont see Paidi's team take on Kerry, but very well done The Deise, a first win in many years of champo. Another free pass for Kerry into the final......... Meath have impressed me properly for the first time, and they are proven Leinster U-21 winners. Also, winning Div 2 League may not be top standard, but they won it well & winning is a good habit etc. Judgement will be reserved by me in that Kildare have often flopped like this in the past when expected to show well, and of course they were missing several players. Meath will go into the match with confidence, form & plenty of recent competative action. Dubs have experience, proven ability to win Leinster and.......precious little else, other than that they must win, or the whole year will almost certainly end up a complete washout Galway - is there a finer or classier sight then when they are in full flow? Well of course there is, but we havent done it much in the past 12 years.......there's no doubt Galway have the young players, but still seem to depend too much on lads who have alot of miles & big games on the clock. Cant see those older lads lasting that pace, so the younger lads will have to step it up from here on. I hope they do well, they are always a great team to watch when on form Mayo - looked like they did in the All-I final. Had chances, but seem to lack belief big-time, and as somebody else said, seem to lack in the physical stakes somehow. Incidentally, Galway look a big, strong side too. Tyrone, considering all the problems, and aknowledging they had many problems and were a bit lucky, will have gained alot of confidence from chiselling out this win. Fermanagh are just the kind of team who could have left them on their arses, but Tyrones replacements for the big absentees will have learned alot from this. If they get their main men back, they will have an incredibly strong squad it seems. Down, is this the start of another of their out-of-the-blue runs to Croker in August/September? I fancied Cavan to do well this year, and many had written the Mourne off. I'll watch the next game with great interest Wicklow - I had a feeling theyd play well, and Louth wouldnt cope with being big favourites in this game, especially with Micko walking the line. Seems the Wee were lucky, but I expect them to be much better the next day, and to gain alot from getting through this tie

I actually thought the opposite concerning the referee, Fermanagh barely seemed to score from play at all, seemed to get a tonne of frees especially in the second half. I thought he was overly harsh on Tyrone. The free from the Mulligan foul was our only real piece of refereeing luck. The free that allowed us to win was more of a free than Fermanagh's equaliser. I dont think saying they ran Tyrone ragged at times but they couldnt score is fair either, Tyrone had more wides than Fermanagh too, and Tyrone could've pulled away (only for Fermanagh getting a couple of yep, easy frees). I'm biased here, but from the general outlook of your post, im not the only one!

It seems in any case the refereeing left a lot to be desired. I didn't realise that Tyrone had more wides - I wonder how many of those were from frees?! I still think Tyrone were lucky enough to win! An extra game or two via backdoor may have worked in there favour!!

Not at all, they need the confidence & least physically demanding route, which means winning Ulster, they havent done it for a while you know

free pass for Kerry into the final......... No free pass I'm afraid Rashers. Since the game in Killarney last June, when they more than put it up to us, Waterford have being preparing for one game...and one game only. This is their All-Ireland final and they're going to give it a right go.If Kerry go to Dungarvan thinking its a done deal, then we could be in for a shock. In my opinion, this is Pat O'Sheas first big test. If the players are up for it then we'll win but any laziness or lack of intensity and we could get a right rattle. It'll be a lot closer than people expect. I hope I'm wrong but its down now to Pat O'Shea to make sure there are no slip ups.
