The match is on in Thurles at 7 on Saturday evening. I ask you, is it me or is that a joke? Just picture any families who wanted to travel from Beara. 4 hours from Castletownbere to Thurles. How are they meant to travel that distance at night time? Even the bloody trains don't suit. I'll still go, all going well. Total lack of respect for the lads too, when the dogs on the street could tell you that support will be down cos of the time the match is fixed for. My memory is pretty crap when it comes to reporting games, but I'll do my best. Easy to know how important football is to the powers that be. It's on TG4 as well.

It's not going to look too good on camera if there is hardly anyone there. If I had a suspicious mind I'd say it probably suits them if they come up with the plan to scrap the U21 cos they will argue that the numbers were poor for the final. Sorry, I didn't make any comment about the minor hurling, I can't anyway cos I don't follow hurling at all.

pauic duffy the gaa's players wellfare manager is chomping at the bit to scrap this competition because of player burnout. He didnt get his way thank god.
maybe he look at college teams playing in all these intercounty league cup games and co.championships instead.Surely college player players have enough games without these.

sunderland football club has been valued at 200 million euro.Quinn and his consortium bought the club at the start of the season for 15 million euro with 40 million debts,
theres unsustanciated reports that keano has received 10% of the clubs shares for gaining promotion to the premiership,a nice years earnings for the gaffer.

Keane seems like an excellent judge of a player so this alone might help them survive next year. Money alone does not guarantee survival. they will find it tough and staying up next season will be as big an achievement as winning the Chamionship this year.

Theres some serious players involved in quinns consortium from the field of irish business, coupled with tv rights and revenue etc and sponsorship i'd say say keano would consider anything below mid table as a poor season.

whats the nub of what they say.......... I dont consider this a great united team. Very surprised that they could win the premiership. Dont think they are good enough to play in champions league final either. But...... they are better than liverpool. Do u not see any thing wrong with the final being contested by two sides who are not good enough to win their domestic league and effectively picked the matches that they perform in ie european games. I admire united and chelsea for having a go at the lot. The thought of liverpool as champions of europe in a contradiction in terms I think it's abigger picture, football in Europe, football all over the world. If Liverpool & Milan are in the final, what does it say about overall standards? Seems that the usual top sides just share out the trophies amongst themselves. If the Premiership isnt great, how come there were 3 Premiership sides in the Semis? ie The Champions League is also not so great. But Spanish teams have won more trophies than any other nation at club level in recent years, so it seems La Liga is clearly the strongest. Personally I like the German League, no vast waste of money or greed. The national team reached the World Cup Semis, playing super football, without having hardly any world-renowned players. That's the benchmark, regardless of them winning the trophies. Just watch, another couple of years and German teams will start to win again

the germans are a different breed, everything they do is consistantly good, look at their cars,VW,BMW,Mercedes,Audi,Porcse all the leading brands, like their footballers consistant, economical and mostly reliable. They even breed that superb member of the canine family the majestic brillantly inteligent german shepherd dog,a class animal to share your back yard with.
the premiership is proberly fairly ordinary when you take the top 4 or 5 teams away,i suppose money proberly has something to do with three teams in the last four.I felt the same mickmack for a long time about united this year, but then again 89 points is a massive haul,i feel chelsea let it slip this year though around the time murinhno fell out with the clubs owner and sulked during the transfer window when he wasnt allowed to buy,the liverpool chelsea game at anfield spings to mind where a gap in the premiership opened up during this time.
Still a double would be a big statement if achieved today, and would put huge presure of the self proclaimed "the special one"
As regard winning trophies in sport at the heel of the hunt tradition usually steps in,ac milan, liverpool, real are traditional power brokers in european football, thats simply the way it is,the atmosphere generated in front of the kop for the second leg semi final game v chelsea should tell you so,no amounts of money can buy or reproduce colundrums of sporting arena's like anfield on big match european nights such as that recent semi final.Such places are build apons years and years of footballing achievement in front off passionate fans who know their football and live for it and the big european nights by the mersey.
i agree fully about the germans rashers,no big fanfare,no big greed or big spending, just consistanly reliable, even german teams considered to be poor reached semi's and finals of european and world cup finals. How many german players are there in the premiership chasing the big money?,not a lot, like keano, scholes, giggs they strive for footballing excellence on the pitch. In his book "The Popes children",david mc williams speaks about the germans saving money for their retirement,ie not being big spenders,he promotes the theory that these vast sums of saved money by the germans provides the pot from which the irish yummie mummies, decklanders and rampant young irish spenders can borrow money to spend spend spend with little concept of steady saving. You would have to daw the concluesion that the germans are steady race of people in many facits of life. The one contradiction maybe, being their auto ban motor way where you can drive as fast as your car can go.Maybe thats their release though, there little un wind, driving on the auto ban is some experience, the only regret is that it was in a hired ford mondeo not a high power beamer.
