Well lads, I'm just home after savouring a good Cork win. By god they put the heart crossways in me. What did ye make of the game? Should ye be worried yet about Cork in the not to distant future? Laois are a very good side. If I was being honest I would probably say maybe they deserved to win. But in saying that there supporters are some arrogant lot... twas nice to see them suffer like that But I would still feel sorry for the lads on the pitch who thought they really had done enough to win. A few of the Cork lads I have seen play better before, but it's nice to be lucky for once... P.s. for those of you are wondering what the hell am I on about... Cork won the U21 All Ireland this evening. Which now means we've one more than ye! ;D

Congrats Owen, first AI of the year going ye're way. They must be the first county to over take us on a football honours list,be it senior, junior, minor and u-21. Watched the game and a draw would have been the fairest result but this bunch of cork players deserved an All Ireland for what they've done over the last 3 years,a lot of them have won 3 munsters in a row.But as you say Owen they got the bit of luck which was probaly missing at the All Irland stage overt the last few years. Honestly dont think it will transfer to senior though,we have just as as good u-21 players in the county but had one of the worst managers you could find out there and the talent is definately there in Kerry. Can you see anymore of the U-21s being moved up to senior panel this year?Maybe Andrew O sullivan and 1 or two more??

Have to say I'm devastated for the Leinster team Good boost for Cork, must be close to Kerry & Donegal & Mayo & Tyrone as favourites for Sam. Good Laois team again, could it be their year for a big breakthrough at senior? With another Kerry footballing genius at the helm, they could well be right in the hunt. How I'd love to see Cork-Clare & Kerry-Laois All-Ireland Semis, what a wonderful boost that would be, might even get 60,000 for the double bill

Owenabue we are not exactly shaking in our boots at the thought of tat U21 team coming through I have to say. Kerrigan is a fine footballer for me few others stood out. That said their record speaks for itself. Kerry will have to get its house in order at this level. Laois need serious feeding/bulking up.They overuse the passing game. I dunno time will tell!!!!!!!!!

Was also at the game . Yes Laois played the better football and were unlucky with the second goal . As the cork supporters pointed out to me they has been trying for 4 years to win one so fair play to them for keeping at it . As a Kerry man I am worried 3 of this Cork team have played senior and some more of this team will make it . I am pissed off with the performance of Kerry at this grade and think that we will suffer in 2-3 years time . How many of the Kerry u21 panel will figure in this years senior team as starters . From a Cork point of View Owenabue how many of the team will feature ? . Laois have a bright future if they can get some of these guys through .Rogers Tierney Merdith . Remember that Laois has a centreback who was only 17 He totally destroyed the Cork no 11.

I know its not good enough by kerry not to be winnin at underage level but the players are still there,There are 5 or 6 of the u-21 panel on the senior panel,Reidy,Young, darren o s,Paul o connor, kieran o Leary and a few more like Mike o donoghue, kealy and alan o sullivan who are capable of making the step up aswell. Of that Cork team the last day only 4 are on the senior panel at the moment(granted a few more will probaly be drafted in now),whilst i can only see 3 of them at most startin come championship time,Goold,Shields and Goulding.

I hope you are right .But Kieran o Leary is no Gooch . Alan O sullivan is no Dara o Se . Young and Reidy have some experience . Remember the u21 teams of 95 to 99 how many went on to senior glory

Kerryeye, I would put Cadogan in there too. I saw him playing better than he did the last evening and if he had the likes of Spillane, Lynch or Canty with him he'd be fine. I'm still have a question over Goold, but people have reassured me he's very talented. I just wouldn't put him in midfield at all. But in saying that the issues in midfield were similar to the seniors midfield at times. They put great effort into winning the ball and then have nobody to give it to. It is in a way solved with the 3 man midfield the seniors play at times, but then we're missing a half forward then essentially. If Canty was one of those 3, it would work more effectively but it might be expecting a lot of him with him just coming back from injury. Martym, I will presume Shields anyway. As is well documented we're having problems with our forwards. Still not too sure if Goold and Goulding would fix it either. The best six needn't necessarily be the six who would play well together. Not avoiding naming the six I would pick, I just can't even sort it out in my own mind! I'll answer it after the Limerick game.

Not sure is Goold up to senior inter county at midfield either, think wing forward,he's been played at full a bit but Cussen will be there,Goulding will surely start,Masters,Goold,Cussen,Goulding,Donnacha Oconnor i suppose will all start.Think Cussen could prove a real handful in full forward.

I'd hope Hayes would be back too, and I would be inclined to put him somewhere in the full forward line. But I'm open to other suggestions!

Yeah Hayes is the one i couldnt think of,class act on his day, 10 Masters 11Goold 12 o connor 13Goulding 14cussen 15 Hayes
Masters and O connor more suited to inside line id say but i think they are the best 6 cork have, what are the other options owen?Backline of Shields, canty,Lynch,Spillane.Who else?Kavanagh and Murphy midfield??

Not too sure about midfield. I know Kavanagh and Murphy seem the obvious choices, but Kavanagh seems to be struggling a bit with injuries, well during the league at least. Hopefully he'll be grand come championship. If we could have two Cantys we'd be sorted cos I don't know who else we've for fullback. Sexton was playing corner back and not doing too bad during the league. Played full back for Carbery against UCC and did well too. But I wouldn't put my last euro on him starting come championship. I will presume Kieran O' Connor might be left there. I wouldn't be too worried about the half back line cos there are plenty of replacements for there. Also, O' Donoghue seems a handy enough player as well.

Well done Owenabu on the win. Laois have the same old problem of producing some tallented players but they are too small for championship.
Cork didnt bottle it the last day...I could see that goal coming. Laois must be kicking themselves.
