Just a thread that can be updated as we seefit throughout the year as our opinions change. Will be interesting to look back on at the end of the year.
I personally cant see anyone beating kerry this year apart from themselves. Even though it sounds crazy tyrone are in transition and we wont see the best of them till 2008 with mcguigan back to full tilt. Still dont think they have adjusted to the loss of Canavan.
Armagh are a team that are just past it and remind me of the kerry team in the late 80's where everyone grew old together and little was done bout the young talent. Marsden coming back samcks of desperation and reminds me of Ogie and the Bomber in t 90's. At the time Bomber was flying for his club too.
Dublin are just not good enough. When the heat comes on they just cannot seem to pull it off. Be it league or championship. They are def short 3 class forwards. They rely on brogan to do everything and jayo is an impact sub now at best.
Cork are also short the forwards. Billy has bought them so far abnd restored the passion and pride in the jersey but that can only take you so far. Kerry have had a monoply on the minor grade in munster in recent tmes and its beginning to show at senior level with few truly outstnading players making it with cork. I dont really rate the under 21's as any really great player
will be on the senior panel straight outta minor and half the players drop out to travel and some just lose interest.
Galway seem to have petered out and will endure a famine forsome time again. Hurling seems to have taken over again in the region and with the retirement of the donnelan and other players over the years it will besome time again beforw they are a force.
Mayo are the perrenial bridesmaids and while they have the players they dont have the mentality at the moment. If one man can sort it its O Mahony.
Laois will be the ones to watch I think with Kearns leading them they have some supremely gifted footballers they just need to get a bit rough and i suppose in fairness a bit negative, Micko was never one for tactics and cynicism but in fairness its needed in the modern game and I think Kears might bring loais on in that departmrnt
