With Padraig Reidy now likely to make Kerry's championship team it makes me wonder when was the last time a player from a Novice club made the Kerry team?

When the three Spillanes were playing Templenoe were novice most of the time. That must be some kind of record is it?

Ballydonoghue were novice when Liam O'Flaherty was still on the Kerry team in the late 90s (I forget which year he retired - 99?). Has there been anyone since then How about before him? Weren't Asdee junior when John Kennedy was on the Kerry team?

Asdee were never junior. John Kennedy played for Ballylongford in his Kerry days, they were junior at the time. Ogie Moran has a novive medal from '77 as has the Bomber.

Imagine if you were a small rural novice club somewhere in kerry trying desperatedly hard to hold a small club together that was being ravaged through emergration during the late 70's and you saw the bomber and oige running out onto the field for the opposition wearing no.14 and no.11 on a dirty wet dark miserable day some where along a costal region with a dirty rotten squal of a wind coming in off the atlantic cutting the balls of ya,and you were wearing no.6 or no.3 in the first round of the novice championship.Oooch.
