KERRY star Kieran Donaghy is making good progress and has returned to training after a shoulder injury sustained during the league in March.
Donaghy has resumed physical training but has yet to engage in contact after damaging his AC joint against Donegal four weeks ago.
Kerry manager Pat O'Shea expects the 2007 Footballer of the Year to comfortably make the All-Ireland champions opening Munster SFC match in June against either Clare or Waterford.
"He's back doing physical training but has yet to involve himself in any contact," said O'Shea.
"He's another couple of weeks off that and even then he might be a little sceptical about taking a full hit. But he'll have all the time he needs as we have a bit of time on our side now," said O'Shea.
Kerry finished the league strong in Donaghy's absence by beating Dublin in Parnell Park after drawing with Tyrone in Tralee eight days earlier to claim third spot in the division behind Donegal and Tyrone.
O'Shea was satisfied with the campaign and is currently planning to redraw his squad in the next few days.
"We've actually been discussing that and hope to finalise something like a championship panel soon," said O'Shea.
But his insistence that it will be open ended means that there will always be room for Mike McCarthy and Eamonn Fitzmaurice if they choose to reverse their decisions on retirement.
"It's up to either player if they change their mind.
"We're very disappointed to lose Eamonn but he's a straight up guy, I know him a long time and he has never let a Kerry team down," said O'Shea.
