I know hes a decent enough player for the county but he seems to fade outta games. I think in fact when murph does go sheehan shud go into goals. Hes a superb keeper with a brilliant kickout. And whats to stop him coming up to have a pot at those long range frees if he so wishes. Just a thought. I really dont rate cremin at all. I think hes a very poor keeper and is a bit on the slow side

Interesting thought Lolly,
I remember him as a minor keeper. He left in a soft goal against laois but apart from that he was good

There could be something in that alright lolly,
sheehan coming from his box in the 2010 all-ireland final, the teams level,a replay becons, sheehan places the ball 68 metres out from the opositions goal slightly to the left.
interesting thought all right.

I would agree that Cremin does not look like an inter county goalkeeper. I have not seen enough of Kealy to judge him. I would prefer for someone to sit down with Sheehan and work on the weaknesses of his game. For me his workrate, aggression, strength and taking too long on the ball are his weaknesses. These can all be brought up to scratch if the manager puts the time into him. He has all the football skills which you can't teach as easily!

i think its a lack of positional sence with him, maybe also a slight lack of a gear change when needed.
Remember brian stafford for meath,he was their free taker and fullforward,he never seemed to sprint for a ball, but the amount of ball he played from fullforward was huge,he always seemed to amble into the right position to collect plenty of ball.
sheehan is too good of a free taker not to turn every stone over in the quest to bring him on. Maurice sheridan from mayo didnt contribute a huge amount from play either but was a vital part of their set up '96 and '97.

I suppose we should ask the question.......... can a team "carry" a player for frees alone? Certainly....... a team cant survive without a top class free taker. Dublin have lost several close matches since charlie redmond retired. i cant recall a team winning an all ireland without a top class free taker.................. apart from kerry in 2006 final but then again they didnt need a free taker that day such was the gap between the sides. In the semi final against armagh mfr missed about 4 points from frees. On comes brian sheehan and nails a monster of a free and you could see kerrys confidence rise. Can a team carry a player for frees alone? maybe some teams can!

Its an indulgence mickmack...... Someone needs to buck the lad up bigtime....or else the bench beckons..... there can be no passengers in August/September....... That's not maybe.... been ther done that and all the rest.

Its his "laconic" style that irritates me. Still.......... apart from Donaghy and GOOCH........most players take a year or two to settle in.......... Tomas and Marc o Shea being two. Paul Galvin another. Maybe give the lad a break ...........for 2007 and see how he gets on.

He is a good player and I agree with Mickmack. He just might open it up this year. If he does not then maybe that goalkeepers position could work!!!!!!!!!!

I personally think their are plenty of forwards in the county who are way better than Sheehan. Maybe he deserves a chance this year but I think the goalkeeper suggestion could be a brilliant idea. How could anyone forget the free he scored in injury time in the county final. 50 yards out near the terrace side shooting in to the lewis road. It had plenty to spare too. Ideal for a goalkeeper free taker.
Remember peter o brien used take all corkes penaltys for the ten years of so he was between the posts for Crokes. Only ever missed one, and that rattled against the crossbar so its not like it is any harder just because you are in goal!

Lads, no fear of any Kerry fella getting ideas about himself as a footballer anyway... Are ye being a little bit harsh maybe?

Youve got to keep them on there toes owen,no room for complacency here. It is hard for them be on their toes when some people have cut the legs out from under them Ah no seriously, hard and all as it is for me to admit things, but I have a feeling he will do well for Kerry in the next few years.

I hope he does,he's shown amazing potential since his last year as a minor(spent first 2 years in goals) and i think we all just feel as though he's comin to an age now where he is to show his true form, other than just as our free taker.
