That figure is nearer to 850 grand ciarrai33,a massive amount of money. There certainly is a trail of people right from the top down in croker to the people supplying expert professional services to county teams making money from gaa activities.
interesting nicky brennan has being able to take a three year break from his employment to act as president. What funds this. On the other side of the coin mike mc carthy one of the best full back line players of the modern era has to retire from county football at his peak at 28 because of work pressures. Surely theres an imbalance in there some where.
i dont have a huge issue with opening croker once the funds generated go to either 1 the employment of expert coachs around the country, preferably former intercounty players,or 2 into a fund to compensate county players for loss of earnings etc.

Surely the transfer of Thomas Walshe to Wicklow is a greater danger to the amatuer status of the GAA than the opening of Croke Park. The Tyrone Co. Board attitude is all very well but the players are currently living in a very Greedy Celtic Tiger Ireland where everyone is going that extra bit harder just to make ends meet. The players lose out on things such as overtime due to their GAA commitments and something will break eventually. Personally this week i didnt begrudge the rugby players whatever money they recieve. It is not that spectacular really compared to the spoilt and pampered soccer players. The Kerry Gaa spent 700,000 eure on the teams this year. Pretty soon it will be a million a year. Someone is definitly doing well out of the GAA compare the performances of dara o se right throughout the season to that of robbie keane, john o shea and damien duff in the most recent international. All three proberly averageing 50 or 60 grand a week. enough said.

It's safe enough to read the Examiner now with all the Kerry men working there. As for the soccer players, shur they only play soccer cos they weren't good enough to play real football!

I was disappointed with Billy Keanes article on Michael Greenan. Greenan made valid points and it took balls to say what he said.
I was passing Lansdowne Road last week and there wasnt a JCB or a crane in sight. Now......... what exactly did congress vote on..................

On page 52 of the match program from this years all-ireland semi final, kerry v cork there is a series of photo's outlining the various stages of developement on how croker was brought to its present state of splender without having as much as one championship or league game relocated to another stadium.
Maybe the people who had a cut at members of the gaa not sharing the majority view in recent weeks might take a look a them and threat these people with a bit more respect.
