As you said above Kerrygold, Money talks loudest, and it all boils down to this one sentence.

All O Gara had to do to ensure victory was to kick that last peno into the courner. It would be irelands throw and they could have easily ran down the clock. It would have been ok even if he drove the peno wide. The drop out would have been from the 22 and thats a long way from the Irish line. Having score the peno the restart landed on Irelans 22. A recipe for disaster
Poor tactics by Paul O Connell overall .
By the way........I will be on the hill for the england game!!

a terrible lack of concentration from professional footballers, they would have won that game if they hadnt got that penality.
somehow i think the ocassion of playing in croker got to them, the ghosts that inhabit the sacret sod rose up and bit them on the arse, the one that glided seamus darbys hand into tommy doyles back. You know the one i mean.

lads and lassies............... I consider myself reasonable etc . My son plays rugby mainly bcause its the only sport that he is any good at.
I opposed opening croke park to rugby and soccer because it will hasten the end of the amateur gaa game where lads play for the pride of the parish and the county as matt the thrasher says in knocknagow. The gaa is unigue and the last bastion of true sport and I really fear that in 10 years there will be a few super teams owned by billionaires and profit will be all that will matter. Watching the programme on thr o hailpin brothers, I felt that at the end Sean Og was the lucky one......... three all irelands and captain of cork when they won.
How may sons of ex rugby players have tuned to GAA? None. Conor o Shea and Tomas o Leary are just two examples of sons of gaa players who have turned to rugby. ITS A ONE WAY STREET.
Opening Croker was like turkeys voting for christmas even though the gaa has become part of the establishment by doing so.

i would have too agree with that but its not fashionable to say so in our new ultra modern dog it dog society where neighbours will piss on each other for money.
something i found distastfull over the weekend was the snipping at those people who opposed the opening of croker by substanial members of the media in national print. The contempt and ridicule for their opinion who as members of the gaa was their right to articulte their opinion left a lot to be desired.
its a one way street alright but we also need to face up to the fact that playing football at senior county level is more than just a hobby, its a full time job.How the issues of compensation for this time is handled will decide the way the gaa will look for another generation or two of county players. We cant keep the heads buried in the sand and hope it will go away especially now that croker is open for business turning over massive sums of money with its dept reducing and elite athletes from around the world getting paid big books to display their skills on the sacret sod.
maybe the die hards are right, but try telling that to the dublin chamber of commerce, the national print media and the thousands of club members who never go to a club agm or club game but still voted to open croker.

Surely the transfer of Thomas Walshe to Wicklow is a greater danger to the amatuer status of the GAA than the opening of Croke Park. The Tyrone Co. Board attitude is all very well but the players are currently living in a very Greedy Celtic Tiger Ireland where everyone is going that extra bit harder just to make ends meet. The players lose out on things such as overtime due to their GAA commitments and something will break eventually.
Personally this week i didnt begrudge the rugby players whatever money they recieve. It is not that spectacular really compared to the spoilt and pampered soccer players. The Kerry Gaa spent 700,000 eure on the teams this year. Pretty soon it will be a million a year.
Someone is definitly doing well out of the GAA

Im still not sure on the opening up of Croke Park. It looked well on Sunday but at the same time Im not sure if the boot was on the other foot if the GAA will be accomodated. Look at the new landsdowne and the tallaght stadium both not being suitable/available for GAA games.
GAA is still banned in fee paying rugby schools. Who talks about this?
I think the GAA has a layer of professional people at the top that have more in common with other professional sports than the grass roots. Croke park adminsistartion is like a beast that has to be feed: more events in the stadium to pay the wages. Does any one thing that these guys heads would be more turned with having Brazil or U2 play in Croke Park as opposed to making sure club players have enough games or there are enough facilities for young fellows.

I think the Gaa has made massive improvement in regard to the use of Croke park ) largely thanks to Sean Kelly. This year we could have Crokes, Ardfert and little Duagh playing in croker which is phenomenal. It should be an inspiration to all club players in the country.
