It seems the gaa and the gpa have reached an agreement on a four million package. There will be an anounchment released latter today.
Its seems the money will be released to the various county board and paid out as extra exspences to the players.
the nicky brennan dj carey axis was bound to result in some agreement.
Surely this is a sensible approach from both sides without contravining amature playing laws.
it might be a start to ensure that joe canning is not the next shane long and paddy curran the next shane horgan.

C'mon Kerrygold. Sure we all know Shane Horgan has no left leg!!!!
If this is true, i am not sure it is such as good idea. Strikes me as a temporary fix just to keep the heat off for a while. I suppose we won't know until we see the detail. 1. Will the Mayo hurlers get treated the same as the Kerry footballers in terms of expenses? 2. Who qualifies for the expenses? What about numbers 25-35 on the training panel? 3. What about managers? 4. How much is it per week/per mile?
Sean Kelly had a great tendency to face up to issues head on to try and resolve them. Nicky Brennan strikes me as a fence sitter. Even during his campaign to be elected he had 'no strong views on the opening of Croke Park'!

I had an interesting chat with a few lads from small rugby clubs in Munster at Croke Park. They doubted if they would be attending many more major international matches in the furure because their clubs will have no choice but to sell its tickets to corporate sector in order to raise funds to maintain grounds, develop grounds etc. Since the professional era arrived very little money is trickling down to the grass roots........... its nearly all going to ROG, GIRV, BOD, DARCE, BULL, STRINGS, POC, ETC.
I fear the worst when money gets into sport.............
