The difference in referee's interpretations of the rules is really starting to bug me. I rarely criticise them but i am now wondering if the problem is coming from the administrators barking at them telling them to focus on different issues. The fella in castlebar is still fresh in my memory and a lot of games now have 20+ yellow cards. How can you have a free flowing game then?
The only ref that stands up to it is Pat Mceananey. He is confident enough in his ability to handle a game even if it gets out of control. He lets play flow, lets a bit of belting go (which neither players nor fans mind) and only pulls out cards when they are cast iron decisions.
The administrators of rugby spend a huge amount of time fine tuning the rules and training refs. They have to because rugby is much more technical and there is huge scope for interpretation. They still get it wrong occasionally but generally it is better.
20 yellow cards in a clean game of football just baffles me.
You can be sure the top teams are analysing the refs to see what they pull on and waht they let go.

The discipline in rigby never ceases to amaze me. The rugby refs always command so much respect from the players tis unreal? And as you pointed out Seamus, generally good decisions are made most of the time. How have they got to this point? Can the GAA follow a similar model to success or am I just living in a dream world?

In an English club rugby game on Sky Sports at the weekend i heard a player calling the referee 'Sir'!!! Don't think it will catch on in the North Kerry Championship for a while.

Neil Francis slated the ref in the Ireland v France game in the Sunday Tribune yesterday.
When you watch the likes of pat McEneaney you realise how poor some of the others are. The guy in the crokes game was pitiful.

He was a disgrace to be honest,
theres no consistancy from refs, then again the continious mouthing from players doesnt help the situation either.

Too true, I couldnt get over the Brosnan booking, there was a full on heavy shoulder just seconds before Brosnan was booked for something so small it was laughable
