what hard evidence have ye that micko poached this player or any other player in the past. Maybe we should be looking at what he has acheived since he vacated the hot seat in kerry in'89 bringing countless joy to thousands of peole in leinster who never would have experienced victory in croker. Nobody would, nor has denied what he has done, he has received alot of praise for it, spreading the faith, sharing the (football) wealth and all that. The GAA in many places is very much the better for all that he has done.

Micko is a legend but he also knows his market value. He was involved in the famous washing machine ads in the 80's before any other group in the Gaa knew what marketing was. Do something you love and are good at and get paid a fortune as well. Fair play to him.

Micko arrived in kildare after a lifes time playing football for kerry and managing them a veteran of 20 all-ireland senior final appearances. He was 55 years old when he arrived in kildare after having spent his life running a number of his own business's.55 is an age most successfull business people consider retirement, fair play to him if he choose to spent his retirement spreading the football gospel to non fashionable counties and a bigger fair fcuks to him if was financially rewarded for it. Micko was never approached to manage a team at any level in kerry after '89,thats the biggest shame of all and also that mr.kelly couldnt see fit to name him irish manager v the aussies.I suppose opening croker was a bigger fish to fry.Worth an honoury doctorate no doubt. How many people would like to spend winters nights driving over the wicklow mountains to train wicklow.

Kenny Rodgers was on the late late a few months ago and he was asked how he keeps going at his age etc.
He said......" Do a job that you love and you will never work a day in your life".
Micko would die if he wasnt involved. Tis no sacrifice. Bobby Robson is similar.
As regards looking for hard evidence..... thats not possible. A few years ago the GAA started an investigation into under the table payments. They concluded it after a few weeks saying they couldnt even find the table!

We are all aware of the politics that goes on. As long as the game never become pro I dont care and I agree with Mickmac the GAA would not know where to even start looking for under the tables deal. All done quiet and cash. You want to see the mock of it in the US please whats been done in Ireland is small scale but does need to be watched.

O'Dwyer promises plenty of surprises in autobiography Wednesday April 11th 2007 www.unison.ie/sportsdesk/stories.php3?ca=13&si=1810243MICK O'DWYER may be facing the biggest challenge of his managerial life as he attempts to raise Wicklow's football stock, but it's not his only project this year as he is also busy working on his autobiography. And he has promised to reveal all from a fascinating career in which he won every honour as a player prior to becoming the most successful manager in GAA history. He explained that he had decided to write his autobiography to celebrate 50 years as a senior inter-county player and manager and also to put the record straight too. "Everybody has had their say about me over the years and now it's my turn to tell it as it really was. There has been a lot of rumour and innuendo about my involvement with Kerry and in particular with Kildare, Laois and now Wicklow. I'll put the record straight - I owe it to myself and to those close to me. There are plenty of surprises in store, I can assure you. "The GAA is in an incredible organisation and I have been lucky to be part of it, so my story will reflect that because in many ways the changes in the GAA have reflected the changes in Irish life over the past 50 years. Like anything I have done in life, the book will get total commitment - there will be no half-measures." The book will be written in collaboration with Irish Independent GAA Editor Martin Breheny and will be published by Blackwater Press in October. Colm Keys

"Peig" was a depressing read all right. Constant heartache. Defeat being pulled from the jaws of victory. Glass half full. Little hope of good days to come. I can see why you, as a Dub supporter Rashers, didnt like that book.
