tom sullivan, crowley, macgearailt, barry o shea, didnt start,
noel kennelly was a sub, kirby was injured and maurice and tadgh sat in the stand, thats a serious amount of football talent to cock up in an all-ireland final when you look at the the starting 15.
hard to think kerry are stronger in '07 with recent retirements etc.

Crowley was awsome in 2001 against dublin both days in Thurles. Why was he not on in 2002......... had he been injured or was it another quirky decision by the management.
Galvin, Donaghy, Declan, Aidan add a lot ........... in my view the forwards of 2007 are better. In 2002, Marc o shea was too young and John Sheehan was probably not up to the required standard ................(if thats not being too harsh).........

i wouldnt blame sheehan,'02 was a cock up in my mind always.
the treatment of maurice was terrible in '00 and '01,how could you treat a fellow like that who scored such a point like that v dublin from the side line and pulled the games out of the fire v armagh and galway.
he would have scored that sideline ball v armagh '02.
tadgh played for the u21s and wasnt included on the bench, sad i'm off to open a few cans of bud, pissed off now.

fully agree, they were superb in the second half, never let kerry into it,especially around the middle, but you always feel its one that got away.Anway fair play to armagh,i've always respected the way they have played the game,a very good team.

This is the 2002 team that lost to armagh. Is the 2007 vintage better? 2002 2007 Better: D O'Keeffe Murphy: Murphy M Ó Sé, SAME S Moynihan, Tom Sull: Seamus M McCarthy; Reidy/Young: Mike mac T Ó Sé, SAME E Fitzmaurice, ?? J Sheehan; Aidan O M : Aidan O M D Ó Sé, SAME D Daly; Tommy; Even S O'Sullivan, Same E Brosnan, SAME L Hassett; Galvin: Galvin MF Russell, SAME D Ó Cinnéide, Star: Star C Cooper. Same. Subs: A MacGearailt for O'Sullivan (48), T O'Sullivan for M Ó Sé (57), J Crowley for Hassett (63), B O'Shea for Daly (72). Good benches between both teams aswell. Hard to compare teams but not much difference between them if u ask me.

Good team in 2002, think they the forward may be stronger but the back line off. Fitz Mac and pony hard to replace them really.

This is the 2002 team that lost to armagh. Is the 2007 vintage better? M Ó Sé, SAME T Ó Sé, SAME D Ó Sé, SAME S O'Sullivan, Same E Brosnan, SAME MF Russell, SAME C Cooper. Same. Just because it's the same person doesn't mean the player in 2007 is the same as they were in 2002. M O Sé was very green in 2002 and is definitely better in 2007. Likewise E Brosnan has improved in many areas since 2002. MFR hit his peak for Kerry when he scored 1-7 against Cork in the semi, so I'd say the 2002 version is better. I've a strong feeling that Gooch of 2007 will find his scoring boots and prove to be better than he was in 2002. T O Sé and D O Sé are roughly the same as in 2002. S O Sullivan has improved a bit.
