How about using this thread to post reviews of sports books that you read. Any decent sports books out there at the moment?

Hurling the revolution Years by Denis Walsh is a top notch read. Dublin Vs Kerry takes some beating. In fact the 3 or 4 books Tom Humphries has written are excellent.

Should we start a topic with book reviews, rather then saying something like it was good. As in a more detailed review? Just a thought.

Writting books is a dangerous past time,it didnt do dave o leary any good at leeds.
Have brian corcorans comments in his book about waterford triggered the little mental switch in waterfords players minds that will turn them into winner this summer. That was a massive win v the cats yesterday.Could his comments spur waterford on and cost cork munster and all-ireland championships this year?,waterford are genuine contenders now.

Christy o connors book on hurling goalkeepers was a great read,it give a great insight into the dedication and commitment they have,it also proved that goalkeepers are crazy, but hurling goalies are totally off their head altogether!!

Dessie Farrell's autobiography was the best of the football autobiographies. It revealed a lot of personal information. Paide O Se and Mick O'Dwyer's didn't have much personal information in comparison to Farrell's. Micheal O Muirtheartaigh first book was a good read as well.

I though this was the most depressing read of all time......suicidal stuff...... awful

i totally agree mickmack,i picked it up in easons when it came out and read it for about twenty minutes,i thought there was too much personal information in it about the dressing room.i didnt find the reviews in the papers very inspiring also, the dark side was a bit deep.
i tend to find information coming from the dressing room about lads you have gone to war with a bit much to take and feel uncomfortable with it and i generally dont read on.
i thought niall quinns book was an enjoyable read. Its easier to read books about lads you consider your hero, therefore i had no trouble finishing paidi's and roy keans books, others i lose interest in them after 80 or 90 pages,do you find these books by former footballers are worth the read mickmack?.
tom Humphries book kerry v dublin was fascinating,a great read, that murray fellow, cant think of his first name, was it bredan rashers, was a fascinating character.Lads like that tend to create a special athmosphere in the dressing. Those talks in the shed in parnell park must have been ledgenary,no place for the meek,Tis amazing what comes out when you get a group of lads with a common goal pulling in the same direction when they share whats on their minds and in their hearts with each other.I feel strongly that it should stay within the group though and not appear in books later on.
