soccer played badly!!
Ireland v Wales was shocking.
I have seen hurling played poorly in Kerry but it was always watchable. Rugby and Gaelic foolball are still watchable no matter how poor the standard.
On the other hand........ a bad soccer match is awful.......

I was at Croker and it was very boring, not even a great atmosphere. Mexican wave and weather were the best parts.

kenny cunningham is just after claiming that it was a controlled, competent professional display by ireland today, stan, keane, kenny and a few more must be away with the fairies.
i was going to go looking for a ticket for wednesdays game but i'd rather go and watch 22 periwinkles having an orgy in a rock pool somewhere along dingle bay.
compare that crap to the level of intensity tyrone and kerry reached in 2005 in the final,i cant believe these guys average 20 to 30 grand a week, how many of them would survive in a gaelic club game, keano calls it right,no wonder he packed his bag and left the island of saipan.Duff, keane and o shea have repeatedly fail to lead from the front.

Hardly even warrants a mention - not fit to tread the hallowed turf, that's the bottom line for me right now. Yes they were going to be very nervous playing in Croker etc, yes the pitch was surprisingly bad - (was this deliberate, to not have rolled out those divots and bumps in the 3 weeks since the rugby? Millenium Stadium pitch, which has had many more rugby matches, doesnt seem to have this problem), but still it was truly awful. No doubt they will play better with less "occasion" and better football under lights on wednesday, hopefully it will be something like the Czech rep performance. As KG says, the lads who should be leaders are mere shadows of what is needed. Keane's attitude really bugs the hell out of me, he would not inspire me if I was a player on that team What's the story with O'Shea & Finnan playing wrong sides?

Admin, remove this piffle please.
Nobody cares about a man who can't answer a question straight, managing a team who don't care, run by an organisation who can't go six months without messing something up, such as hiring a man with less managerial skills than the countess of Coventry who couldn't even manage to put some clothes on!!

I would say that the GAA are laughing up their sleeve at the shambolic set up with the soccer crowd......
The GAA have the high moral ground now.

The GAA may have the moral high ground now, but I think it's a disgrace leaving that shower of over paid, no passion fairies onto the same pitch as our GAA legends. I have nothing against a team being poor, which lets face it the Irish soccer team is poor. These things come in cycles, especially as it's not the main sport on this small island. The thing that gets to me is the lack of HEART and PRIDE in the jersey!! I have no problem with soccer being played in Croker so long as the players show some will to fight and win! That all you can ask for. Players should have to work for the privilege to play for their country, not just get in on the status as a "senior" player. Heart, Guts, & Commitment!!

Its a crap and boring game 99% of the time - I've always said that its no wonder the fans kick seven layers a sh1te out of each other - its the only release they get !
Seriously, any sport where you have to segregate the fans has got to be seriously flawed.

Am watching it on the laptop here in work through this Sling Media box my brother gave me for Christmas. Brilliant stuff. I love the way the front rows in the Canal end have been taken out as the people there wouldn't see over the advertising hoardings etc.....the FAI have a chance to make a few bob and they don't need the seats!!
For the All Ireland, you can be sure those seats would be sold and you'd be glad to get a ticket.

Much better 2nd game I thought, but Slovakia didnt play well. Well done Ireland, at least theyve kept the interest going, would be nice to still be involved at least up until the Germany game. I look forward to see the German lads (including 3 friends of mine!) come to Dublin in numbers, great people and great fans. Met two decent lads from Karlsruhe in Brogans in town the other night, they just decided to fly over for one night because the flights were so cheap! They were staying out all night and flying back on the ghost plane. We were all watching Ireland play cricket, and Cork in the Nat League, and whatever League of Ireland match was on, on the third telly, along with a crowd of lads all speaking in Welsh - the world is a small and amazing place!

It's a box you hook up to your cable box in your house, run it through your internet router, download the software on your laptop and hey presto, you can watch any of your channels at home on your laptop anywhere in the world.

Stacks, does this mean that I can watch all sports on RTE, BBC etc from anywhere in the world if I had the sling media box set up at home? If so this is a blow to Setanta.

It's completely legal, and on sale by both Slingmedia and Sony (the Slingmedia one is the original).
I'm sure there are terms about public broadcast etc, but yes, it does put paid to your Setanta jumpy starty internet viewing days.
There are hardships involved, but if you get over them, it's fantastic. They are:
1) You can't easily port forward if you are an Eircom customer. What you do then is set up as far as you can with the CD and then ring them. They come online remotely and do the complicated set up for you. Eircom are just plain lazy in not allowing port forwarding.
2) Ther are two ways to set up the actual Slingbox. You either hook it up to the feed coming into your cable box or the feed going from the cable box to the TV. With one you only get to view the main 20 or so channels and none of the additional subscription channels. But you are allowed to switch channel independenly of the people using that same feed in the house, and you won't affect what they are watching at all. However, if you take the feed coming out of the box, you get all the channels (including the decoded ones), but if you switch channels, what the gang is watching at home is also switched. The only way to overcome this is to get your own Chorus / NTL Line and use that.
Oh, and you can watch it on the TV if you have a modern enough laptop which has an S-Video to TV out cable.
