This game was on TG4 last night. It took many years before I went back to the Gaelic Grounds after that. Did Jack O Shea or Ambrose O'Donovan ever play for Kerry after that?

jacko didnt,he was 35 that year, some career,i never remember missing a league or championship game for kerry from '77 onwards.
I'm not sure about rossie, but it ended the career of carl o dywer with kerry, carl landed 2 monster frees of the ground 6 years latter for kildare to beat kerry in the semi final of '98.
pat spillane was dropped for the that munster final and sat in the dugout for the full warm up before the game, not a happy camper that day,he was never seen in a kerry jersey again either.
t'was a shocking day alright.

I dont think I've ever seen anything like the scenes in the Gaelic Grounds that day - when you consider that Clare hadnt won Munster in 67 years............and havent won it in the 15 years since.
Are Kerry fans looking forward to the Paidi challenge soon? Should make it interesting anyway, although with the qualifiers now it seems the Munster Championship is valued even less by Kerry & Cork

Not sure of subs. How come Pa Dennehy and John Cronin weren't playing? Weren't they Kerry's best players against Cork earlier that year or was that '91? Pat Spillane was making his debut for RTE that day.

cronin broke his leg at some stage, that wasnt too bad a kerry team,6 of them were on the starting 15 in '97 v mayo.
o leary was sub goalie in '97 and karl played for kildare in '98 final.

The ironic thing is as well was Kerry beat Cork by double scores in 1992. This was only two seasons after Cork had won back to back All Ireland.
Pa Dennehy and John Cronin were playing against Cork the year before in 1991 in Killarney

Credit must go to Clare. They were a fine team and put it up to Dublin in the semi final. Seamus Clancy , Tom Morrissey etc. Great players.
Twas Seamus Moynihans first game at senior level. The goals made the difference. The Clare crowd were great......... the footballers provided inspiration to the hurlers to make the breakthrough.

Agree about good Clare team Mickmack and well trained by Maughan.
My abiding memory of that day at the Gaelic Grounds was the disbelief of the Clare supporters who right up to the final whistle were in a state of shock. Kerry supporters were no better. It was a weird atmosphere.

I stayed in Ennis that night, it was like a carnival! The Semi was an incredible day. My brother was engaged to a girl from Ennis, I bought her the saffron & blue jersey as an engagement present, and a few of her family stayed with us, the slaggin was deadly. The atmosphere in the ground that day was special, and thank god, it was a good contest.........and we won! There was a sad aftermath with regard to our Ennis connection, which makes the memories all the more cherished. Innocent & magical times when I think about it

I remember us making a rapid exit from the Gaelic Grounds that day and sitting in silence all the way home......
