When is the penny going to drop with some of our north kerry members that Shannon Rangers do not have a team capable of doing anything in the championship? They are miles off the pace with too many footballers playing division 4 and 5 football. The jump to playing against the likes of the crokes is simply too much.

Tousist beat ballyduff who shortly after or before, cant remember, became north kerry champions in a div.4 promotion game.Tousist are a small rural club with a small pick.

I disagree withyou seamus. Just because the club in division 4 and 5 does not mean the player is. They pick a panel of the best I believe that the is done everywhere?? I dont think its the Calibar of player they jsut are not gelling. they really do no training together and they pull that team together with no game plan

Shannon Rangers had more training done this year than half the other divisional teams put together. The problem is:
Ballyduff - division 4 Ballylongford - division 5 Asdee - Division 5 Tarbert - Division 3 Ballydonoghue - division 4 Beale - Division 2
Players might be capable of better but the pace of division 4 and 5 football is light years behind what the crokes, kor, gaeltacht etc are producing. Would you ask a player from Ratoo rovers to play soccer with Ireland with no adjustment? The only way these players can adjust is to get involved with county set ups when they are young and get used to fast football. That is the beauty of the divisional set up as it allows you to play with your small club while still playing for the county. The disadvantage is that if you are a late developer you are going to be missed.

disagree bout the standards of div 4 or 5 players!any players picked from dese clubs have more dan likely played at a higher level and suceeded!da likes of colin and martin o mahony have played county football are well capable of playn at that level!!

i dunno about ye lads but i know that one of the shannon rangers lads was on a serious session last night. Im not going to name names but you have to question the commitment of some of these players. This lad is one of their main players and its sad to see that north kerry football has come to this

whats going wrong so? i think teams like tarbert and beale are much more interested in achieving their goals with their clubs. These players definatly play with a lot more passion and determination with their clubs. (pride of town and parish) the shannon rangers best players would probably be martin mos mahony, colin o mahony and shane enright. Three backs may i add.

Shur look, we all know Shannon rangers have been a joke for most of the last 10 years in the c/ship....the players have to take some of the blame for this(not training, lack of interest etc.), but the management or more specifically the Administrators (i.er board or whatever) have to take a lot of the blame. Some of the guys put in charge of the teams have been nowhere near what is required. Guys who have never even managed a club or underage team..and this year that is the case again. To be fair to Kevin Mangan I don't think he looked for the job, but he was picked out and asked...and he hasn't even been involved with Ballylongford if i'm not mistaken??! And as for the selectors...I looked at the Rangers team that played EK, and I'd say 3/4 would make a fully fit panel if all players were available. Out of interest, does anyone have a brief report on the Rangers v West Kerry game last Sat.? Good win...Gaeltacht in next round is a tough draw though.

the root of the problem lies with both players and management. they have some superb underage teams through the years but cant seem to reproduce this at senior level. as for the claim that most of the players are not up to county championship standard, that is partly true. but look back two years when a young and untrained team gave the gaeltacht a run for their money in ballybunion. whatever happened to that eddie mangan fellow does anyone know?

He did his CL in a NK semi-final V Listowel in 05, not anywhere near his best yet.
